Hello Dennis,
I bought the SCR-522 on eBay. I am a collector and not much of a radio guy.
I also have a shop that restores WWII aircraft. The 522 will go back into a
flying P-51 or possibly a P-47.
We had one a while ago that was also new old stock and one of my employees
tuned her up and she worked well. That radio is in the Flying Heritage P-51D
that is up in Arlington, Washington. It is hard to find some of these radios
in NOS condition, as you all know, so I appreciate the heads up Mac.
I love the idea of these radios going back into the aircraft and being
operational. I really appreciate the wealth of information that you all have
shared as it has helped us to learn how to take care of these works of art.
Thanks again,
Taigh

Winner appears to be a WW2 Air Corps memorabilia collector, not a radio guy.
I run one of these (see my pix on QRZ), most recently at the 2006 MRCG FD.
Had to replace every cap in the receiver to get it going. Touchy thing to
tune up too. Hard to imagine the adjustments holding up under vibration,
hard
landings, etc., but apparently they did.
