[ARC5] Re volume control

Hi Phil,

In all the ARC-5s and SCR-274-N manuals, installation designs and actual
installations I have seen, there is not one volume control. Very few of the
Interphone amplifiers had volume controls, either.
Therefore, the operator must use the RF gain control to control headphone
listening level.

The AVC was necessarily crude in these sets because most of the time they
were used in the air where there was unlikely to be much short term
variation of RF signal strength. Certainly, signal strength would have
fallen off as the aircraft got further away from base or aircraft carrier,
but between aircraft in a wing or squadron, there would have been little
signal strength variation.
