That would be the project.  Ed lived around the corner from Ernie, less 
than a mile or so.
I tried to build the conversion a couple of times and Ernie got the 
second one working sort of.  It was my workmanship, not his design.  He 
made a number of versions of the transceiver and even ran them mobile.  
Ernie eventually wrote a booklet completely detailing the conversion, 
both mechanical details and electronic details, this would probably be 
in the early 60's after about the third version or so.

Any chance you have a copy of this particular article.  I would like a 
copy if I could get it.
