I am aware of a very interesting conversion of the BC-453 or R-23 
navigation receiver into an 80 or 40 meter SSB transceiver designed by 
Ernie Mason, W6IQY, (SK) of San Diego during the late 1950s. I still 
have one of the schematics of one version and I used to have a booklet 
he wrote about the conversion, in detail, but am unable to locate it 
after many moves and a divorce. If anybody knows more about this 
conversion or has a copy of the booklet, I would be very interested in 
getting a copy of anything you have. According to his wife, a ham in 
Redding, CA might have more information about this conversion, but I 
don't have his call sign and she doesn't remember it.
