George,
I agree with Barry (and others who've written reasoned replies to
eBayphobes). The very fact that the is nonsense usually means there was no one around
who knew diddley about it. 8 years ago and back to when Christ was a Novice,
the only place it would have gone was to the dump. And if it's something you
are interested in, you can always hope that the poor description, wrong
category, dumb title, etc. will keep anyone else from finding it. I have a ZM-3A/U
that a friend stumbled across accidentally. Despite the fact that the
nomenclature was easily the largest printing on the nameplate, it appeared nowhere in
the ad or ad title. After getting seriously outbid on two in a row, I had this
one to myself.
And yeah, it was reported that it must be OK as the light comes on. And the
meter was pegged 'cause the leakage voltage adjustment pot was fully CW. I
sent the seller an email and asked him whether the needle went back to the left
when he turned it off. And told him that if it did, not to turn it on again.
