Must be the blue stuff is tritium? 

I do have one old R-390 with original meters that are hot,
yellowish/brown and all but dead as far as glowing in the dark, but
still give the counter a twitch fit.It would appear that the later
R-390A meters are the 'Green(ish) phosphorescent' types except for the
odd blue/violet one.

Never checked the antenna relay meters for the ARC-5 or SCR-274N
stuff, but I do recall seeing one with the same yellow-brown
appearance. Wonder if anyone has a list online of older gear to be
careful of with respect to knobs?
