[ARC5] general question

How do you tell the rating of RF chokes? Why are they usually made 
with no identifying codes, how dumb is that? How can I tell whether 
some of the many in my junk box are 2.5 Mh rf- chokes? Are all those 
little chokes with four sections of windings the same? If not, why 
the heck are they not designated. What is it about electronics parts 
am I not getting here? Is there a way of testing them?
