G'Day All,
A friend of mine has been given an odd Rx and is looking to identify it as
either a factory mod or a ham mod unit, his description is as follow's,
<I have been given an ARC5/Command set Rx that claims to cover 28 - 41MHz.
The
dial looks original and the tuning gang has had the moving portion reduced
in
diameter by about 2 thirds. My info from the net makes no mention of this
frequency range. I always thought they stopped at 9MHz and then there was a
118 - 136 model. [or something like that] It has a normal tube line up and
the
IF is 2830 KHz.
Anyone seen one of these or have I been conned!.>
In answer to my questions, he sent the following,
<Hi Chris.
It does not have a name plate but a serial number has been inked on the
place
where the serial label should be . It says "AW1174"
The entire case including front panel is unpainted aluminium that has been
coated with some slightly yellow varnish, (MPF?). The dial is black with
engraved marks
and numbers with white infill.>
I seem to remember some discussion quite a while back about some units
modified for the European theatre,
Any thoughts?
Cheers all,
Chris.
