Well, there's that old "move one brush 90 degrees" thing that was published
many years ago as a way to run a 24V dynamotor on 12V. When you do that it
only puts out 150 to 180V, still probably too high. Of course you also
have to put in 6V tubes, and I know "there'e no 6V substitute for a 12A6"
but I plugged in a 6F6 and my broadcast band ARA receiver worked OK in my
Dad's 1958 Plymouth. He didn't believe in buying cars with radios...
I wish I could find the old article that describes the brush remounting.
As I recall there weren't any mods that couldn't be reversed. If I look
through my dynamotors I can find the one I modified... maybe it's even
still on the old BC band radio, which I still have. I fed that one its 12V
through the front panel connector and took the audio out through the same
connector to an output xfrmr, so that radio is unmodified. One good choice
I made back in 1961. The other was to get into computer programming, but
that's another story.

Group,
Is there a possible way to (cringe) modify the dynamotor to reduce its
output voltage to maybe 125VDC and still run on 24VDC?
