There's a very rare SCR-274N VHF transmitter,
the BC-950, "over there,"

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2208559697,
along with the equally rare transmitter control box.

You can clearly see the 815 modulator stage that was designed
into this transmitter. Most of the early T-23s are re-works of
BC-950s. If you look inside an early T-23, there is a hole plug
in the socket that was originally for the 815. The BC-456 modulator
was too powerful for the 832 output in the original design.
W.E. solved this in the rework for AN/ARC-5 by switching in
resistors.

Not known how many of the BC-950s survive. Only about a thousand
were made and some of them were reworked. The receivers are even
rarer. I'd pay very well for one, since it's the only thing left
for me to complete this set.

p.s. Paul/Mike I'm working on the "Odd GF Coil" post.
Still digging out reference material for it.
It ties into Navy radio from the 1920s and into AN/ARC-5,
in fact.
