I got an interesting piece in today- a Range "J" coil for the RU-3.
Nice nomenplate date, confirming it was the same contract as
the GF-1, Nos-34679. Only thing about it- it rattled.
I opened the can and- surprise! No coils! It was the cover and
the silver coil covers, but someone removed all the coils
(the seller's not a radio person, so I didn't cuss him).
That's OK; It was cheap and I only wanted it for the contract data.
As a bonus, the storage can was from RU-11,
another A.R.C. contract, Nos-69906, so I got double the data.

Got another nice piece- a TU-22 tuning unit, 350-650 KC.
Here's a neat bit of data: The contract is 1508-NY-41.
The contract for the first generation of W.E. SCR-274N is 1509-NY-41.
Must have been part of the big build-up contracts in 1940.
Imagine the congressmen going down the list:

( Illinois ): "OK, the next item is for 2500 liaison sets."
( New York ): "I want that one! GE will do it."
( New Jersey ): "You always get the big sets...."
( New York ): "Well, that little factory in Boonton
               isn't exactly geared-up for it."
( Chairman, all in one breath ): "New York gets the contract,
                                allinfavorallopposedmotioncarriesnext."
( Clerk ): "Contract #1508-NY-41 goes to GE in New York."
( Illinois ): "OK, the next item is for 5000 Command sets."
( New York ): "Give it to the little guy from Jersey."
( New Jersey ): "A*$hole......."
