Hello,
I have a friend who is restoring a North American B-25J Mitchell bomber.
The great thing about this B-25 is that it is probably the only stock
original B-25 around. This aircraft came from South America and has
never been "civilianized". It still had the very rare Bell tail turret
installed. All of the original armor plat is still in the aircraft
including the "coffin" style pilot's seats. There is corrosion and blast
marks on the side of the fuselage where the muzzles of the 50 cal
package guns were being fired. 50 cal spent casings were found
underneath the bombardiers floor boards. The guy who is restoring this
awesome project is also committed to doing a 100% authentic restoration
and would like all of the original radios not only installed but
functional as well. I thought that I would post a message to try and
find him some help for this worthy project. He needs good to NOS gear
and someone who might want to get the radios up and running and help
with the install and functional testing. This is a late J model B-25
which will need a complete set of SCR-274N equipment. He will also need
an SCR-269 radio compass, a complete BC-375 with the tuning units and
accessories, IFF (SCR-695) and the blind landing equipment (BC-733 and
ARN-5).
If anyone would like to help with this project let me know and I will
put you in touch with him. He is a great guy whom I have had the honor
of knowing for many years. Any help given to this gentleman and his
B-25J is time well spent.
Thanks,
Taigh Ramey
