Ron -
I'll echo what the others have said about modifications on such a radio:
please don't. There are already a ton of modified ones available out there
which would fill the need nicely and help preserve the fine example you
have. I received four ARC-5 rigs yesterday - a like new R-25 and R-26, along
with an equally clean T-18 and T-19. Unfortunately, the T-19 has been
modified with two additonal holes. I knew this before I agreed and mainly
took the deal to pick up the other items, but it's a shame to see such a
nice radio hacked up. Thankfully, the others are untouched.
I have several old units at home that have been modified, mainly kept as a
source of parts. If you're truly set on using one in anything less than
stock condition(meaning the addition of extra holes), please see if any of
mine will fit the bill. I'd be happy to give it to you if it can save the
clean rig you've got now.
