My 2 cents - Agreed, doing ANYTHING, even taking off the bottom plate,
would reduce the value of a completely pristine unit. (I have an ARA
receiver in the original shipping box) I deal also with antique race
cars. Repainting, even done exquisitely, reduces the value from
just-rolled-off-the-track condition. Car at point: Robertson's
Locomobile, "Old # 16," winner of the 1908 Vanderbilt Cup has never been
"restored" or repainted. Still in good running condition. Belonged to
artist Peter Helck for many years, now at the Henry Ford Museum. Worth
much more in original condition.
But, of course, it's your transmitter. You can do with it what you
like. Free country.
