Just a reminder, not directly associated with Paul's story below...it is
quite easy to ruin an NOS set of bearings on a dynamotor.  The only
thing necessary to accomplish this is to blithely run one that has not
been started for twenty years.  In the intervening time, all the lighter
lubrication components have slowly evaporated, leaving the soap binder
that provided a storage vehicle for the lubricant.  Soap is not a
bearing lubricant.  :-)  A few drops of synthetic oil like Mobil I in
each bearing for trials such as these may save you some weeping and
gnashing of teeth later on...
