You should rethink that statement.  Empirical - relying on or gained
from observation or experiment rather than theory.  Maybe you meant to
say "don't accept data gathered from observation ..."  One needs to be
careful when using the words 'never' or 'always'.  They don't leave any
wiggle room.  A lot of experimental empirical data can be trusted
because it comes from reliable sources.
