When comparing radials made up of wires
in or on the ground with wires or tubing
sticking out from the side of the mast, it
like comparing apples and oranges. They
do different things in different ways.
Most obivious; wires in or on the ground are
not resonant, (way too much loss), while
wires or tubing up in the air usually try
to reflect a value of Xc or Xl into the
game. Being as complicated and involved as
they are, it's best to try and see what
works best for you. In general, get the
greatest source of electrons from the ground
of your choice. If you plan to push current
up the pole you have to get it from someplace,
and with the least effort. Never trust
empirical data, unless you're the one who
collected it.
