Very interesting.
I have an R-7, but do not remember how the R-8 differs. Is that the one that 
also covers 80 m?

The take-off angle should become lower - very low, when elevated.

However, it is difficult to imagine it being comparable to those other 
antennas in that it has no directivity in azimuth. It is only the gain that 
it would have in the vertical plane that provides any hope at all and would 
be very dependent upon the specific height above ground and the 
surroundings.
