[Antennas] how to mount mobile antennas

Mag mount is ok for 2mtrs and up..but personally, I would use the Trunk Lip
Bracket by Larson (NOT the TLM or Trunk Lip MOUNT). The Bracket is just
that...a 90degree small piece of metal (either chrome or black) and uses
three small screws to attach to the inside of hood or trunk. I have one on
my S10 Blazer at the left side (opposite the AM FM antenna) and use it for 2
and 6mtrs (A NMO150 uncut will work fine on BOTH bands!) Actually, drilling
a 3/4 hole in the center of the roof and mounting the antenna permanently is
the BEST way.

As for any HF antenna, FORGET magmounts...get a bumper mount (and make sure
GROUND is a low resistance/low inductance path from mount to car body) or
use a hitch mount if you have a hitch already...other than that, a ball
mount properly installed on the side is again the BEST way in my opinion
(but I don't like drilling BIG holes in the same...3/4 in holes in the roof
is another matter and I drill them ALL the time ;)
