Well, the feedline for the G5RV doesn't have to be vertical.   Same thing for any ladderline fed antenna.

What's easily confusing is that the feedline should come off the horizontal antenna perpindicular to it, as far as possible, 

The more near perindicular your feedline is to the antenna, the less coupling effects, etc you have.  

However, don't be intimidated by less than perfect conditions.   Many guys with good signals have had antennas with feedlines coming off at angles other than perpindicular.   Simply do the best you can with it.
