[Antennas] G5RV

Greetings to you all
I have an up coming trip to an island far off. I did plan on taking a 
G5RV antenna with me, I understood (I think I am now wrong) that it 
would have been an ideal antenna to roll up and stick in my very limited 
space allocated to me. I was at the local radio club and another member 
said that the G5RV feeder needs to be vertical...is this correct. I 
understood that the feeder could be at any angle? I seriously doubt if I 
could find somewhere to hang the antenna 30+ feet in the air. If push 
comes to shove I will take a long length of wire and hope like hell that 
will do.
Please any advice would be truly appreciated.
