Hi guys, happy turkey to you all:
One small addition:
If you already use a tuner, the antenna doesn't have to be a half wave
long!!! It can be 3/8 wave lengths only or anything between that and 1/2
w.l. with very little degradation. The issue of metal near open wire feed
line is less than critical.
This is what's called a doublet antenna and was used by the army since WWll
on the V-101 transmitters. Very FB. G3LDO has a nice paper on these antennas
in his book
