A few years ago I used a 40m GP made of 2x4's , telescoping tv antenna mast tubing, and a 15 ft bamboo pole with #14 wire for the top, plus 4 radials at the 15 ft level. It worked KC4USV on a daily basis with 100 w on ssb, and allowed me to run phone patches for the guys down there. No doubt, elevated GPs work very nicely for long haul and dx.
