I strip back about half an inch or so of the plastic around the braid. Then
I solder a wire around the braid and paint it with electrical weatherproof.
I then use the two wires to solder to the antenna legs.

Subject: [Antennas] Ideas on Stripping Coax Shield??
Hello group!
I am looking for ideas on an efficient way to peel
back the braided shield on coax so the shield can be
soldered at the antenna end.
Unweaving it does not seem to work. It gets so tangled
it starts breaking off.
Slitting it parallel to the center conductor makes no
sense because you end up with a string of woven
fragments.
I have big plans for the upcoming anntenna farm
installation season in my yard, but as always have
this issue to deal with. Any help would be very much
appreciated!
Many thanks!
Ken
