My three rules of thumb:

1) any antenna is better than no antenna.
2) outdoor antennas are better than indoor antennas
3)more wire higher is better.

especially for the lower bands.  It is possible to get too high on 10M 
and make the take off angle rise.  But for most of us ordinary folk, it 
is really hard to get anything too high on 40M and below.

And you have 2 and 1/2 of them covered, Clete<G>
