About,

"There has been recent discussion on wire antennas for 160 meters.
Crossed dipoles at low height and horizontal loop.

I am surprized that the inverted-L has not been mentioned. I have never
tried an inverted-L for any band but articles describing its
construction always praise its performance.

I would like to hear from anyone who has actually used an inverted-L.
Is it as good as claimed? What was it compared to?"

Regards,
Frank Kamp

Frank, I used one for ten years on a city lot in CA with excellent
results and S9+ reports in JA land, etc., running a KW. It was 80 feet
high and had 36 buried radials. It was a resonant quarter wave and
matched to coax using a shunt coil wound on a powdered iron toroid.
