[Antennas] RE: Strange Antenna ?????

Hello Group

I have seen this type of antenna on the roofs foreign embassies in quite a 
few countries.

It is horizontal with 3' or 4' circular rings like hula hoops spaced about 
10' to 15' apart. Then multiple
wires are attached to the periphery of the rings running horizontally. The 
termination at each end is made
up of all of the wires brought into a cone. I tried to take some pictures to 
see where the feed point was
and what the details of the end termination were, but my telephoto wasn't 
long enough to bring out any detail.

Does anyone know anyhing about this type of antenna. Nothing is mentioned 
about this device in any of
my antenna books, including the new ARRL Antenna Book, Krause, or any of my 
otherbooks.

Any help would be appreciated as this question has been bugging me for 
years.
