Why not just use regular center-fed horizontal half-wave dipoles?

J-Poles (aka end-fed Zepps) are great for verticals since the feedline 
connects at the bottom and the half-wave radiator is in the clear.  With 
horizontal dipoles, the feedline can be at a right angle to the radiator 
and will have little effect on the pattern.  (Don't tell anyone, but one of 
the little-known secrets of J-poles is that their coaxial feedline radiates.)

You can use a gamma match if you want "plumbers delight" (no insulator) 
construction on a horizontal dipole.
