[Antennas] Anemometers and Weather Stations

I'm using a Peet Brothers (www.peetbros.com) Ultimeter 2000, they now have
a slightly more advanced model. It gives a lot more than just wind speed,
has audible, alarms can be connected to a serial port, and from there the
sky (and your programming skills) are the limit. Plus there are several
good programs out there with all kinds of recording/reporting capabilities,
and I understand that it can also be interfaced to APRS. There's even a
(very expensive) software package that generates voice reports that you can
use to generate automated over-the-air reports.

I am mostly happy with the U2000, I understand that the owners are hams, so
it's purported to be "ham-friendly". I have had a few problems with it, but
they did try to help solve them. One product I've had nothing but grief
from, though, is their unique PRO rain guage - it works by creating uniform
drops from the rain entering it and then counting the drops as they pass
through a set of gold-plated electrodes. It's a brilliant idea, but it's
not worked reliably for me. I will probably replace it with their standard
tipping-bucket guage.

Hope this helps - more questions, write back.
