[Antennas] Using RG174 in mobile setup ??

Just go with the RG-174, especially since you already have the RG-174.
It can't hurt anything to try it.

I got lucky (twice) and won MFJ mini-mag mount antennas at the local 
ham club raffles.  I can't say I would have bought them but, they were free!

One was 2 meter and the other was 2 meter & 70 CM.  I have used both antennas 
with an Icom IC-02AT and I ran the RG-174 coax from the roof down through the 
opening of the rear door on my vehicle.  It worked just fine with low SWR as 
measured on an MFJ 259 Antenna Analyzer.  

Sure, you lose some output power in the RG-174 and some signal strength on 
receive but if you are working through a repeater or point to point with a local 
you should have more than enough signal going out and coming in.
