[Antennas] Want HF No Radials Vertical

Bob, when salt water comes into the equation you get away with pretty much
anything! When we speak of the efficiency of a vertical (esp radial less),
we generally assume poor/average ground.
I used to operate from a villa on the South Caost of Sri Lanka, at around
the same distance as you are from the ocean, running an inverted vee tied to
the rafters of the roof of the single story house. The rig was an FT7B
running 40w. I had no problems working pile ups of USA/EU/AF on 40 CW. Same
wire dipole at the home QTH (12 miles inland) was good for nothing at the
same height outside and not much even at 30'
I am an ex /MM op and can never stress enough the advantages of a salt water
ground plane!
