[Antennas] Verticle grounding

Who knows?  Perhaps neither.  What is the soil for a few wavelengths 
around the well casing?  That will determine efficiency and take-off 
angle to a much larger degree than what is directly under the antenna.  
But it is a nice place to start--even it is a hole in the sand it would 
be better than sticking the same antenna in the cracks of a big, granite 
boulder<G>
