I'm planning on putting up a dipole antenna for 75 meters. I currently have
a dipole for 160 meters fed with 450 ohm open wire feeders right into the
shack and into a tuner.
What would be the best transmission line type to feed this 75 meter dipole,
coax or open wire feeders? I'm concerned with the weight of the coax, RG8U,
bogging down the center of the antenna. It will be supported at the ends
only. Ladder line seems so convenient and lite. Will it impair the operation
of the dipole vs. the coax? I would use my present tuner, Dentron MT-3000A,
to tune the 75 meter dipole if I use 450 ohm ladder line.
By the way, the new 75 meter dipole will be oriented 180 degrees from my 160
meter dipole and yes, I do use the 160 meter fed with 450 ohm ladder line on
75 meters from time to time.
Thanks.
