Dear Ron,

Certain aspects of my last message should have been explained a bit better.

What I would like to suggest is that if you play around with the lower
capacitive hat - both in terms of its size and its proximity to the earth, I
think you will find that it has a significant effect on the impedance seen
at the feed point. You might be able to make improvements in your SWR, at
least at some specific frequency.

I would also suggest that the antenna is going to be sharp - don't expect to
be able to go very far either side of your optimum frequency without seeing
a big change in VSWR. This is typical of "loaded" or shortened antennas.
