I tested a Weller SI 251 200W iron with 20mm wide tip, and a Weller
Magnastat W201 with 10mm wide tip.
I found that the SI251 with its huge tip needs MUCH more time to heat up
(this is not a disadvantage) but the heat transfer to the PL-259 barrel =
is
much slower then with the 10mm tip of the W201. Seems the wide tip is =
made
especially for flat surface soldering.
Unfortunately for the SI 251 there are not available smaller tips. The
smallest for the W201 is 7mm.=20
After these I think I will stop at the 100W only W101 Magnastat with a =
5mm
tip, which will fit in the opening of the barrel and probably the =
thermal
transfer will be the best. As I saw in the answers 100W with good =
preparing
of the PL-259 will be enough, considering also the constant-kept =
temperature
of the tip of 370C.
