[Antennas] 2M Weirdness

A group of us regularly talk simplex on 2m. The closest person is 25 miles
north of me. The next person is 3 miles east of him, about 26 miles from me.
And the third person is 14 miles north east of the first guy. Each person is
running at least 50 watts into decent 2m antennas from 35 to 50 feet high.
I'm running 100 watts into a Ringo Ranger at 30 feet.

Here's the strange thing. On some nights, like tonight, I can hear guy
number one, but his signal is a couple of S units below normal. I can't hear
guys 2 or 3 at all, and normally I hear them okay. They hear me full scale
on their S meters. My swr is 1:1 on my antenna.

One way propagation? They're hearing me as they always do. Any thoughts?

Thanks,
