[Antennas] "Random wire"

A random wire slightly over 1/2 wavelength will play FB, but the
feeding of such an antenna can bring RF into the Shack. A better choice
except for special applications is a doublet (dipole) fed with open wire
feeders, the optimum flat top length being around 200' to cover all Ham
Bands. This antenna was written up by a great technical writer N4PC Paul
Carr and is called a Center-Fed Zepp by most old timers like myself. It
has been my favorite for over 50 years and for a simple all Band Antenna
would be a better choice than a random wire.. Paul is now a silent key
and I miss his good articles.
