Hi Sean; I have used parallel dipoles for years. I have an 80/40 at 50 ft
and a 160/30/17 also at 50 ft. both arrays are supported at the center on my
tower. Separation of wires is 6 inches with spacers made from the 1/2 inch
plastic piping. the two arrays have their legs at angles to minimize
interaction. I use homemade bead baluns on the two coax feeds. As has been
stated by someone else the tuning can be a little tricky but I use an autek
VF-1 and plot VSWR curves against length so I have a good idea of the amount
to trim before I haul the ends down. Takes a little time but it works good.
Do they work? I maintain skeds all over the east coast on 160/80/40. 30 and
17 is just icing on the cake. Good luck, Keith VE3JKC.
