Terry,
  If you are going to be driving, think about using a mobile antenna.
I've done this a lot when in motels. Just run the coax out to the car.
If you don't want the antenna on the car all the time, just install it when 
you want it.
Works/worked for me.

PS...be very sure to use a VERY GOOD mobile antenna!!!!!
