Solution #2

So, you have a lot of time on your hands, right?

1) Remove the outer braid in whatever way.

2) Cut thru the dialectric every 6 inches.

3) Get the wife out of the house.

4) Put it all in the oven at some temperature or other. 
( Experiment with shorter pieces??)

5) Bake it thru to some temperature or other.

6) Put on your gloves.

7) Strip a 6 inch section of the dialectric from the inner conductor.

8) Snip off the uncovered inner conductor.

9) Repeat steps 7 & 8 fast,... before the bundle cools.

10) Air out the house before the wife gets home.

OR,...

10)  Lie and play the hero: feign that you fixed the ________ (fill in the
blank) after it showered sparks, and that's where that putrid odor came
from.
