Paul,

I assume you mean SO-239 chassis connectors that mate with PL-259 "UHF"
plugs.  It's not worth the trouble to rethread such connectors.  If
you're going to replace the damaged connectors, don't buy cheap ones;
some of the Shack connectors have rolled threads instead of machined
threads- real crude!  Some of them are made of aluminum intead of brass,
and have tinned contacts instead of gold-plated.  Cheap connectors often
have phenolic dielectric instead of Teflon or Delrin.  These are no more
than junk.

Order some top-quality Amphenol connectors from Mouser or Digi-Key. 
These will have silver-plated machined-brass bodies and gold-plated
contacts.  Install them, and enjoy trouble-free connections for the rest
of your life!
