Hello all,

The question I have is as follows:

I bought an Icom AH-7000 discone antenna a while ago, and will soon put it
on the roof and when that is done I will measure it with a MFJ-259B SWR
analyzer so I know how it will perform. So far - so good.
Now here is the problem, the friend I have who owns the MFJ-259B says I
don't have to put it on the roof before measuring, it will perform exactly
the same if I put it on a three meter pipe on the ground somewhere else with
another, shorter cable.

And now the question, is he right or do I have to put it on the roof in
order to get it right??

I know the MFJ-259B only cover up to 170 MHz, but it's more important to me
to transmit on 50 and 146 MHz than UHF.
