Actually I'd rather have the bugs. water freezes, at least up here in
Chicagoland.
And aluminum doesn't take kindly to ice formation inside it's tubes.
Now I admit that it's unlikely the boom would be so full and end caps so
restrictive that the ice would split the boom.
At my location, most of that water doesn't go into the boom but into my
coax.
