original post asked about a vertical longwire.
To those of you that missed a chapter in the arrl antenna book,
go read the whole book before flaming me again.
a vertical over a 5/8 wavelength turns into a cloud-burner.
*poster did not ask about making a colinear*
true, you may get some gain, but its all going straight up and for =
vhf/uhf thats something=20
i wouldnt think anyone would want out of a vertical.
better off making a 1/4 wave ground plane out of old wire and hoisting =
that up=20
into the tree. (get it HIGH) vhf/uhf sigs and trees are NOT friends.
anyone seen the old arrl videotape named(???) "everything you wanted to =
know about antennas" ?
perhaps I should have clarified my first post, I was responding to =
someone asking about a=20
longwire vertical. stacked anything was not asked about, nor were =
horizontal anythings either.
geeesh, lighten up people... try to save the man some time
and I get bit. No wonder the newbies to the list drop out so quick.
