[Antennas] " G5RV " TYPE ANTENNA / "CUSHCRAFT MA5V" ANTENNA QUESTIONS

As far as the G5RV, I would recommend the following:
1. Get the antenna up as high as possible. I run all
of my wire antennas a minimum of 35 feet off the
ground at the peak of the V.
2. Since you are mounting the G5 as an inverted V,
try to keep the ends of the antenna a minimum of 10
feet off the ground.
3. The ladder line should be spaced away from the
tower, and any other metal objects, about 15 feet.
This is easily accomplished by strapping a piece of
PVC pipe to the tower.
4. If you are using a matching network, which you
will need for the G5, I wouldn't be too concerned
about the length of the coax.
Just as a aside, if you have the space, a Carolina
Windom antenna will do much better than the G5. It's
a bit longer and is off-center fed, but it works well
as an inverted V.
