Gentlemen,

I would like to thank each and everyone of you that so graciously helped me
to resolve my Cushcraft R-7000 high SWR problem.

The problem turned out to be a shorted 86 pf cap in the match box. I
received the package of 50 pf door knob capacitors and proceeded immediately
to install it. Voila! Success, it tunes now better than ever. I get approx.
1.2 to 1.5 SWR on all bands 10 - 40. Wow, I'm elated.

Basically for you that did not know what this is all about - I have a R-7000
that exhibited very high SWR, infinity on all bands. Cushcraft refused to
help, or did not know what to do, so I placed a help call here on the
reflector and many, many wonderful Hams came to my rescue. I found out that
one of the 86 pf, 6 kv cap in the Match Box, shorted, literally. Since
there are two in series I was told to find a 50 pf, 7.5 kv door knob cap to
replace the two in series. A call again for help netted several people who
offered the proper caps of which the first package arrived today and I
immediately installed it and put the antenna on the air.

In a word, IT WORKS GREAT!! Better than new! I've never had the SWR this
low. DX here I come - :-).

So with much gratitude and thankfulness to all, you Hams came through again.
Could Cushcraft have done this, of course they could have. I'm sorry for
Cushcraft that I started this thread, but there were some real interesting
things that surfaced regarding my problem. I thank you all for your help and
comments and I DO HOPE, that Cushcraft got the message - did you Cushcraft??

Take care and 73 to all of you,

Ron, N6PWW
