My reply to Mike:
I use the MFJ-1786 loop with very good results. I have HOA antenna
restrictions and only have a Cushcraft vert and the MFJ loop for antennas.
The loop out performs the vertical 5 to 1 on the bands it covers. In fact,
the only reason I keep the vert up is to use on 40 meters.
Using wooden dowels I disguised the loop to appear as a TV antenna and kept
the HOA antenna police off my back. For a while I had an inverted V coming
off the loops mast pole but the HOA made me take it down but let me keep
the loop up. Our HOA rules allows me to have a TV antenna and this is it.
Here are some pics before and after of the loop.
