[AMRadio] ARLB020 ARRL Renews Request for FCC to Replace Symbol Rate with Bandwidth Limit

While it is true that the ARRL has recently made some promising moves
regarding AM, such as operating 2 or 3 AM rigs from ARRL Hq., and
official W1AW transmissions in AM, the 2.8 kc bandwidth business must
in my opinion, be viewed separately and objectively, as an issue
requiring hams to abide by a technical specification that many are not
equipped to do with accuracy. It isn't directly an AM issue, but to
me, any kind of numerical bandwidth limit codified in Part 97, is a
problem for all hams, at least those wanting to advance beyond
operation of off-the-shelf gear. If an opportunity to comment to FCC
presents itself, we should take advantage of it.

I often see local special interest groups get some initiative on the
ballot and eventually, after being repeatedly voted down, manage to
wear down the opposition until it passes and they get their way.
Maybe this is the ARRL plan.
