Hi Dave and Jim,
I'm Mike - W4UOO @ Tampa Bay
This time of year I operate AM pretty much only on Sunday Morning Florida
AM Net which last few months we try to call the net to order at 7AM Eastern
/ Local on 3885 per conditions it usually corresponds with the broadcast AM
pattern change time. (When the static subsides in the winter, I like
AM'ing in the evenings too) We run from 15 to 30 check ins, so its usually
one round of comment and one round of 73 and we're done by 8:00 AM - 8:15
AM EDT, but there's usually folks on much earlier.
Wide variety of gear shows up - Knight's, Heathkit DX100's, Hallicrafters
HT-32's, Ranger's and BC-610's (several), and some solid state fare like
Flex and K7DYY's...
When the band conditions are good, I only run an R390 and a BC-610-I and
avoid the Web SDR's (its a purist thing) but when the band is long, I still
want to hear my AM friends so I cave and web to N4DKD's SDR.
Some folks are on as early as 5:00 or 5:30 AM Eastern Daylight Time - which
is while the band is long and we hear folks from Kentucky / Maryland (and
we can hear the Texas folks on 3890 at times) - then the net goes 'Local'
to South of Atlanta after about 7:15 AM and from Tampa I don't hear anyone
North of Georgia.
If ya happen to be awake that time on Sunday Morning check in with us...
