If a ham wants to modify anything it's his responsibility to insure it works
properly!
How many hams have a spectrum analyzer? I don't think many!
How do you insure a homebrew transmitter is working properly? Wait for OO
reports.
An alternative to spectrum analyzer is a frequency selective voltmeter. You
can make one with a signal generator and a diode.
